Before the opening of JING Forum, I was skeptical towards the efficacy of forum carried out in cyberspace, worrying that physical distances will ultimately hinder the delegates from participating in real-time interaction. However, after a week together with other delegates in the cyberspace, I discovered that my worries were unnecessary; on the contrary, I was even a bit surprised at how well-prepared and engaged everyone is in each discussion.
There were quite a few impressive moments throughout the whole session, among which were Junyan’s diagram and her explanation of different concepts revolving ‘truth’ on our very first day, there were also Asuka’s summary, Kawa’s interests in Chinese politics and some of Masaki’s sharp comments. I really appreciated the platform and atmosphere of free, respectful, curiosity-oriented discussion that JING Forum has provided me with, it was truly memorable experience.
